Bugger-All

One day, when my mother was a little girl, she overheard her father ask her mother what was for dinner. "There's bugger-all for dinner," her mother said.

Later her mother asked her what she wanted for dinner. "I'd like bugger-all please," she said.

This dish is not, as far as I know, what they had for dinner that day:

n fillets of white fish (ideally haddock) cut into chunks
n/2 tomatoes, cut ditto
n/2 onions, chopped
2n cloves garlic, minced
olive oil
cumin powder, salt, pepper

Fry the onions in the oil till translucent. Add the garlic when the onions are nearly done. Turn heat low. Put a bit more oil on the onions, and onto it sprinkle large amounts of cumin and fresh ground pepper. Let sit for a minute, then throw in the tomatoes and fish, and stir. Salt to taste. Cover, cook on stove or in oven till fish done.
